Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has criticised the decision to have the Luhya community form a unified party ahead of the 2017 elections.
Speaking in Busia County when he joined Cord principal Raila Odinga in his tour of the Western region, Oparanya called on the residents to keep supporting the ODM party.
"When did Luhya leaders meet and come up with the decision? I was not approached with the idea of Luhyas forming a political party ahead of the 2017 elections,” said Oparanya.
The tour comes after a contingent of top ODM officials from Western Kenya resigned from their party leadership roles citing disloyalty, neglect and lack of respect.
The 2017 election race is already heating up, with formation of alliances been the order of the day.
The public is now keen to see if ODM leader Raila Odinga will be able to quell the rebellion in his party.
