[Photo|CGKK]Governor Wycliffe Oparanya flagged off the Kakamega County Equity Bank sponsored Wings to Fly scholarship programme.The programme, a transformational initiative which begun eight years ago seeks to assist bright and needy children from underprivileged families who miss out on a chance to access quality education in institutions of higher learning. Oparanya congratulated the pupils selected and urged them to positively represent the county.He challenged the children to take advantage of the opportunity provided and work hard in their studies. The governor explained that the county ha heavily invested in education as witnessed in the various levels across the county such as growth of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), infrastructural development in schools and county polytechnics and the creation of centres of excellence among others.Other leaders present during the Thursday event were Deputy Governor Prof. Philip Kutima, Kakamega County Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala and Equity Bank Kakamega branch Manager Peter Akuoyo.
