Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has come out to address reports stating that he will be barred from vying in the August 8 general election.

According to Opranya, he is not worried about the threats.

This is after he failed to honour summons by the Senate over audit queries raised by the Auditor General.

Speaking on Saturday, Oparanya assured his supporters that his name will be on the ballot.

“I want to assure my supporters that my name will be on the ballot come August 8. The push by the Senators to have me barred is a waste of time,” said Mr Oparanya.

He accused Senator Khalwale of instigating the summons in the hope that he could have an easy time to clinch the governor’s seat if the incumbent is locked out.
