Incumbent Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said his political track record since 2013 is enough to enable him clinch the position come 2017 General Election.
Speaking to a Citizen Television journalist at his Kakamega office, Oparanya said the developments he has initiated for the people are enough to earn him votes in the forthcoming polls.
"I have initiated projects that have been of great help to the people of Kakamega County. Some of the initiatives are yet to be completed and once completed they too will give people a lot of help. My track record speaks for itself and I am confident I'll easily retain the seat come 2017," said Oparanya.
The position is hotly contested for with Oparanya facing four opponents.
The four are Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, businesswoman Mabel Muruli, former Kakamega County Executive Suleiman Sumba and Amukoya Anangwe.
Oparanya also called for Cord coalition to carry out a single nomination for the position's ticket for 2017.
He gave a warning to Boni Khalwale who he said cannot match him if Cord carries out a joint coalition nomination.
