[Photo/Courtesy]Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has told off the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee, after it ordered for his arrest. The watchdog Committee chaired by Kisumu senator Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o wants Oparanya arrested and be barred from vying as he seeks to defend his seat in the August 8 polls.Members said Oparanya snubbed summons to explain audit questions, of the 2013/2014 Financial Year Budgetary Allocations to his county. However, Oparanya said this was a political witch hunt being propagated by his rival, area senator Bonni Khalwale, who is also a member to the Committee. He moved to Court last year, to block the Committee from making steps towards him."I want to assure you that I will be on the ballot paper. Oparanya will be vying. Forget that Committee because what they are using is political witch hunt, and you all know who is behind it," Oparanya, an ODM deputy party leader, told locals in Mumias East sub-county, Saturday. On his part, Siaya senator James Orengo, a lawyer, said he would ensure Oparanya's name is on the ballot."I am a senior council, you know me. Oparanya must be on the ballot. President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto's names were on the ballot when they had cases at the ICC, so, what will hinder Oparanya?" said the ODM lawmaker. They were addressing mourners during a burial service of former MP Francis Obongita.
