Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has revealed the origin of his political feuds with Mumias East MP Ben Washiali.
Speaking in Sabatia market on Wednesday, the governor said he differed with Washiali after the MP dissuaded President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto from transferring the government's 20 per cent shareholding portion in the company to the county government.
“I asked Uhuru and Ruto about the government stake and they agreed, but Washiali campaigned against the proposal until they went slow and retain the shares to date. That is where my problem with Washiali began,” he said.
Oparanya said he then demanded that the government allows the county government to have two directors on the board of the company, something the Washiali again opposed.
