As the National Super Alliance (NASA) plans to unveil its flag bear for the August 8 general election, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has thrown his weight behind ODM leader Raila Odinga to be the alliance's candidate.
Speaking to Radio Citizen on Monday, Oparanya said Raila is the only person who can dethrone President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Raila is the only person among the four NASA principals who can dislodge the President from power. He is the only person who Uhuru fears," said Oparanya.
The governor also clarified that his presence during the installation of Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi as the Luhya community spokesman should not be interpreted as an endorsement for president.
"Although Musalia has declared his interest to run for president, I only attended his feast for the sake of Luhya unity not to endorse his bid. I am still convincing him to support Raila," he stated.
Oparanya urged members of the Luhya community to take advantage of the ongoing mass voter listing to register in large numbers to ensure the Cord leader is elected Kenya's 5th president.
