Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has accused Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula undermining Nasa popularity in parts of western Kenya.

The ODM deputy party leader accused Wetangula of forcing ODM candidates in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties to step down in favour of those running on Ford Kenya.

The governor said every party was free to field candidates in all posts apart from the presidential one.

Oparanya questioned why Wetang’ula wants his Ford Kenya party to be given special treatment.

He was speaking in Bungoma Posta grounds on Sunday when he attended the campaign launch of ODM governor candidate Alfred Khang’ati.

The governor thanked his party candidates for refusing to step down.

“Everyone has a democratic right to contest any elective seat on any party,’’ Oparanya said, as quoted by The Star.

He asked residents to vote for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, saying he is the only saviour for Kenyans.
