Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has raised concerns over the continued delay in releasing funds to counties by the national government.
The governor expressed dissatisfaction with the way disbursements have been made to counties in the recent past, saying most county governments have stalled projects.
He explained that the financial crunch being witnessed in the country is because of the heavy borrowing by the Treasury prior to August 2017 elections.
The borrowed monies, he said, were in turn committed to projects to woo voters.
The projects have since stalled. On the upcoming Council of Governor's Devolution Conference slated for 23rd - 27th April 2018, Oparanya welcomed all participants to Kakamega County for the 5th edition of the yearly counties' fete.
Speaking on Tuesday, he called on the residents to accommodate the visitors and capitalize on the event for the benefit of their various business ventures.
Oparanya also inspected ongoing road construction works around the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
He said all roads leading to and from the upcoming new facility as well as the current Kakamega County General Hospital will be opened to enhance accessibility.
