Orange Democratic Movement party deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya has asked his boss, Raila Odinga to quit politics.
The Kakamega governor, whose presence in ODM activities remains rare, further said that Raila should prepare young leaders to take over from him.
"I told you the other day that NASA is dead. I went ahead to tell Raila to relax at home and not talk about politics all the time.
"We should sometimes go to church for prayers because we have hunted for this top seat for long but it keeps slipping from us," he said.
Although he deputises Raila, his place has been overshadowed by his counterpart and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
He was speaking at Mumias on Saturday during the homecoming of Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa, a former ODM Youth leader.
During the function, Deputy President William Ruto urged politicians to focus on development other than persistent politicking.
