According to The Star, Oparanya said, “I cannot abuse the President [Uhuru Kenyatta], the Deputy President [William Ruto] and other elected leaders because I respect them all even if we are in different parties.”

The governor said the government and the opposition must cooperate to achieve development.

And just today, New Ford-Kenya Party formally dissolved to join Jubilee Party ahead of the 2017 general election.

The officials decided to dissolve it and join Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party after a national executive committee (NEC) meeting.

New Ford Kenya is the first to join the new Jubilee Party despite having urged the Jubilee coalition not to dissolve affiliate parties.

The party which has majority members in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia county assemblies said it resolved to ensure Jubilee Party has a national outlook.

Other parties under the coalition include Jubilee Alliance Party, The National Alliance, United Republican Party, Alliance Party of Kenya, Ford People, CCU, GNU, Democratic Party and the United Republican Party.

These parties are expected to dissolve into the new outfit which Uhuru will use to seek re-election.

Jubilee Party is expected to be launched later in July once all affiliates merge.

The Star says Deputy President William Ruto is expected to take up the position of party leader and TNA that of deputy party leader.
