Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya attended an international conference on social protection at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, Nairobi.
The conference which was officially opened by Deputy President William Ruto sought to increase investments in social protection programmes to benefit the vulnerable groups including the poor and the elderly in the society.
Kakamega County's health flagship project Afya ya Mama na Mtoto popularly referred to as 'Oparanyacare' was also on display on Wednesday.
The programme has benefited mothers in the county to access safe delivery and full vaccination cycle with an aim of reducing mother-child mortality rates in Kakamega County.
