Kakamega county Governor launches new market, January 5, 2018. [Photo|CKGKK]Parents have been advised to enrol their children in the free Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) programme rolled down by the Kakamega county government.Governor Wycliffe Oparanya made the remarks during the official opening of the new Nambacha and Harambee modern markets in Navakholo and Matungu sub-counties respectively.The governor called on the national government to release bursary funds through Members of Parliament to assist the bright and needy pupils and students across the county. He said his government had begun offering free ECDE education for the young children to ensure their strong and bright academic foundation.He cautioned employees tasked with ensuring implementation of the government projects at the grassroots against sleeping on their jobs and asked them to fully discharge their mandate for a proper service delivery to the people. Similar markets have been constructed by the government in all the 12 sub-counties to enhance business operations in the county. The governor also commissioned two high mast lights at the two markets to serve the 24 hour economy purpose.Oparanya was accompanied by Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima, Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, CEC members, MCAs and Chief officers among other leaders.
