Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya is still a man under siege after the director of public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko filed a notice of appeal against his recent acquittal for failing to honor Senate summons.

Oparanya was a week ago handed a reprieve after High Court judge George Odunga quashed Tobiko's bid to have him charged following complaints by senate's Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Justice Odunga ruled that the case lacked merit in law since Senate summonses were not in compliance with the law.

However, Tobiko has now filed an appeal notice seeking to have the decision rescinded and the charges preferred against the county boss.

Oparanya who is seeking to defend his seat in the forthcoming August 8 polls has since linked his woes to his main rival Senator Boni Khalwale who is steering the PAC committee.

He had earlier claimed that Khalwale was using the position to have him barred from the race.
