Witeithie residents held a peaceful demonstration to protest the open sewerage in the area, which has been a threat to playing children and health of residents.

They said that the landlord of one of the residential building has allegedly left sewerage water running freely into a dam that has been producing toxic smell endangering the health status of the people.

The residents insist that they have tried to dialogue with the owner of the building to siphon the sewage has proved to be futile and have resulted to peaceful demonstration for the area MCA to intervene in the issue.

Speaking at the scene James Muraya one of the tenants in the area said that many young children play around the area that is a threat of drowning thus wants the area MCA Peter Muiruri to come out handy.

Muraya said that toxic odor has always been emitted from the sewerage that irritates the residents within the area and in terms of health status it has greatly affected them.

Another Michael Njoroge told the press that the MCA should come out and stop the oppression that the landlord of the area who initiated the dam is subjecting to the tenants.

He said that cases of Malaria have been alarming, as mosquitoes have been terrorizing the residents as they breed on the open sewer.

“We spend sleepless nights in the area as mosquitoes have made a shelter and breeding joint in the open sewer thus it is hectic for us and the MCA should intervene to help us,” said Njoroge.

An attempt to speak to the landlord proved to be futile as he fled from the irate tenants and residents of the area.

They were all speaking today on Friday morning in Witeithie estate.
