Rhoda Estate residents in Nakuru are at risk of contracting water borne diseases following outburst of sewer drainage.
Speaking on Friday residents expressed concern over imminent health crisis .
Edward Owino , a tenant in the estate, says that due to heavy down pour in the area residents living in the lower sides of the estate are at risk of contracting typhoid.
“A sewer drainage have bursted. Some of the houses are flooding when it rains,” said Owino.
Samuel Murage says the he has vacated his house fearing for his heath.
“I am currently being hosted by a friend at Mwariki Estate after sewage found its way into my houses,” said Murage.
Residents are now urging the county government to repair blocked sewage tunnels to avoid health crisis.
Residents allege that the area has been neglected by Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (NAWASCO).
“Rhoda has for a long time been neglected in drainage system and the county government should move quickly to address this issue,” added Murage .
Nakuru Town has for the last three days witnessed heavy down pour which has caused havoc.
Efforts to speak to Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (NAWASCO), official to comment on the issue did not yield fruits.
