Operation Linda Boni has terribly failed, Lamu Women Rep Shakilla Abdalla has said.

Abdalla said the operation to flush out al-Shabaab militia from the forest has not yielded fruit. This comes after Coast Regional Coordinator Neslon Marwa called for the bombing of the forest to smoke out the terrorists.Speaking in Lamu on Wednesday, Shakilla said the nation has continued to suffer from incessant terror attacks despite having launched the operation on September 15, 2015.She also questioned why the national government has been spending taxpayers’ money on an operation that is not changing the situation on the ground almost two years down the line. The Women Rep challenged the government to explain why the operation has not been successful, adding that security officers have continued with the operation yet residents are not only fleeing the area but are also being killed by the militia. She further stated that learning has been paralyzed in different institutions due to increased cases of attacks in the county.“The operation has been in place for over two years and each time the government says it’s a success. Where is the success when the al-Shabaab still strike at will and kill our people. How successful is this operation when residents have to flee from their homes and stay in camps,” said Abdalla as quoted by Baraka FM.
