Operations in Dadaab refugee camps remained paralyzed for the 4th day on Sunday, following protests by locals against UNHCR seeking refugees to be relocated.

Last week, the locals protested claiming that refugees have brought them more harm than benefits because they have depleted the environment.

Residents also accused UNHCR of ignoring locals when it comes to job employment saying non-locals have been employed instead of giving priority to locals.

The locals want several issues addressed such as termination of employment of over 100 local youth and ensure refugees stop cutting trees and burning charcoal.

Key operations such as food distribution to the camps, which was to start on December 1 has been delayed until the security of UNHCR and other agencies' employees are assured.

Other operations like medical services have also been hampered.
