Operations have resumed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, after the runway was temporarily closed Sunday evening.
This is after an aircraft from Somalia crash-landed by making an emergency landing and veered off the runaway at around 4:55pm.
The runway closure had effect on flights into and out of JKIA.
A statement from the Kenya Airports Authority notified passengers of the incident, and advised them to exercise patience as evacuation process continued.
"An aircraft from Somalia has landed on its belly and veered off the runway at JKIA. As a result the runway is presently closed. It had four souls on board. No casualties reported. As a result the runway is temporarily closed to evacuate aircraft," read the short statement in part.
Some of the airplanes that were to land at the airport during the time of the incident, were diverted to Moi International Airport in Mombasa and Eldoret.
However Monday morning, airport authorities announced that the runway had been cleaned and inspected, and operations had resumed.
"The runway at JKIA is now open & operations at the airport have resumed," said authorities at the international airport.
