The Mombasa gubernatorial race has attracted the wealthy and mighty.
Some of the aspirants who have joined the race to unseat Governor Hassan Joho include Nyali MP Hezron Awiti, Senator Hassan Omar and Jubilee’s Suleiman Shahbal.
Looking at the names listed, it is clear that the Mombasa gubernatorial race will be a clash of the Titans.
However, Awiti remains Joho’s least worries, though he has been launching attack after attack against the county boss.
The outspoken MP has claimed on several occasions that Joho has sidelined the Luo community in the region.
One of the things that Awiti has forgotten is that the Luo community alone cannot make him the next governor.
He has also rubbished claims that Joho’s relationship with Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga will give him an advantage when it comes to the next general polls.
The legislature should revisit the history of those politicians who have walked under the umbrella of the former prime minister.
Raila is among the politicians who can make you rise to great heights or end you political career.
As much as he continues to campaign from one corner of the county to another with the hope to become the next governor, his dreams remain invalid.
