The outspoken Human Rights activist Boniface Mwangi has announced his intentions to join the dirty game in the next polls.
He will battle it out with the veteran Maina Kamanda in Starehe constituency. There are suggestions that Mwangi could also opt for the Mathare parliamentary seat.
This is not the best decision for someone who has vowed to die fighting corruption. A move to join those he branded M-pigs is a betrayal to his efforts that have landed him in the wrong hands.
Mwangi said, “I will vie for Starehe constituency Member of Parliament seat. I intend to speak courage fluently and I am counting on your vote. It will not be easy but I also count on your financial support to make my dreams a reality. Together we can do it.”
Despite the fact that Mwangi has said that he will not use a Jubilee or CORD ticket, joining politics is following in the footsteps of celebrated leaders like Koigi Wa Wamwere.
After fighting injustice, they join molesters of hard fought for freedom. It will be extremely hard for activist Mwangi to air issues like Jacob Juma’s deaths and misappropriation of public funds while in the August House.
This is most inappropriate environment to further his activism.
