The rate at which Garissa County is making headlines for the wrong reasons indicates that there is something fishy somewhere. This week, Governor Jama is on the spotlight for reportedly sacking his Environment and Energy CEC.
Just a fortnight ago, the CeC, Ahmed Aden was transferred from the finance docket a day after appearing before the Accounts committee.
The last time we heard about him was when he landed at the Environment docket and now he is here with a dismissal notice.
It is either Governor Jama who is on the wrong side or Aden is utterly incompetent. But what could indicate that Jama himself could be the origin of the troubles in the county, the finance department has had four different individuals manning the docket in a span of three years.
If Aden is incompetent, is it a coincidence that all the other three are also incompetent?
Secondly, local politicians including MCAs have been criticising the county boss for frustrating their oversight mandates.
Weeks ago, Senator Haji was largely quoted by the media blaming Jama for failing to deliver. Garissa Town legislator Aden Duale also joined the critics telling Jama to up his game.
It is now time for Jama to focus on public interest and exercise patience, especially in the sensitive finance docket.
