With the general elections a few months away, leaders, especially those holding county administration positions have started positioning themselves well to either defend their seats or launch campaigns for different seats.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Wiliiam Ruto seem to have perfected this, with numerous projects launched across the country in the recent past, which is viewed by many as a strategy to receive backing in next year’s elections.
Governors seem to have borrowed from the two top leaders, and have been traversing their areas wooing voters with different projects and.
Governor Nathif Jama has not been left out either, launching and officiating different projects for area locals.
According to Jama, the projects, which are estimated to cost over Sh100 million are aimed at changing the lifestyle of most county dwellers, as well as realizing the vision 2030.
The governor launched projects in main sectors aimed at improving lives, ranging from Health, Water, Youth, Education and Energy.
However, the question still lingers, is it too little too late for Jama even as he launches his re-election bid in next year’s polls or he has support of many local dwellers?
His tenure has been dogged with corruption cases and constant fall out with county MCAs, a fact that could play against him.
Kenyan politics though has always been knows to shift within a short period of time , and this won’t be any different, whether Jama has done enough to convince locals that he deserves another term will be known as the election date draws near.
