Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s political star is shinning brighter each day.
He has found courage to confront the mighty including President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
His continued struggle to free the Coast region from historical injustices of marginalization has made him win the hearts of many.
The poor and rich, young and old, women and men as well as friends and foes adore governor 001.
However, his rise as the Coastal kingpin will curtail political freedom in this region. Democracy will not thrive at the Coast due to Joho’s exploits.
He will suppress young visionary leaders and help incompetent leaders clinch power.
A good leader will not be elected if he/she points out Joho’s alleged mistakes like corruption and endorsements, among others.
Bad leaders will rule the region simply by boot-licking and the youth will be advised to give them a chance as they wait for a tomorrow that never comes.
Nyanza, Central and Rift Valley are great examples of curtailed democracy based on regional political manuscripts that are rigid to change.
In these parts of Kenya, however good you may be, if you oppose Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto or former President Daniel Moi you will lose.
Democracy is openly molested in the mentioned regions and the Coast is a victim in waiting.
Why was Raphael Tuju voted out despite his development record? Is Peter Kenneth sober to pledge loyalty to President Kenyatta? What made Rift Valley have so many anti-development leaders some who oppose change just because it is tribally insensitive?
Did Raila's vice president promise to Musalia Mudavadi make the latter better than Akaranga?
Joho’s rise has to be controlled if Coast counties want to develop. Worshiping him will land residents in an ugly situation like Central, Nyanza and Rift Valley.
Their established political priests have not fought critical issues like poverty, alarming HIV/AIDS infections, land problems, cattle rustling and general ignorance.
They have strangled democracy to death. Their major business is building personal billion-worth residential places and looting the national cake.
Will governor Joho be different?
