The country's main problem is tribalism and it should be addressed to help unite the country. [twitter.com]
On all election disputes in the country, people have been propagating the idea that they do not support the other tribe in ruling the whole country.
In case violence breaks out, people attack their friends and neighbours with a belief that they are passing a certain message to them and the leaders.
The situation has been worsened by the fact that every electioneering period, the country is plunged into panic with people fearing that there will be an outbreak of violence. People travel upcountry where they feel they will be safe from the violence.
However, the people to be blamed for all this is are the leaders who since independence have failed to propagate a philosophy meant to unite all Kenyans regardless of their tribal backgrounds.
That is why in today's political game, people must have a stronghold from their tribal background for them to negotiate a deal concerning the country's top leadership.
The situation is further worsened when these tribal issues, mainly violence, are swept under the carpet and those affected forced to move on.
This only adds up to these people feeling more neglected and their anguish builds to dangerous levels only waiting for an opportunity of releasing their frustrations.
This why reports like the TJRC should be addressed to help quel the frustrations some people feel that may eventually lead to violence.
Political leaders should thus work in ensuring they propagate a message of togetherness and oneness and help end tribal alienations in almost all aspect of life that make other people feel excluded.
