Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka has become isolated by nearly all leaders and professionals from Ukambani, the only region his party used to command massive support, leaving him totally crippled in national politics. On Monday, former Wiper secretary general Hassan Omar launched a scathing attack on Mr Musyoka, Raila Odinga’s running mate in the National Super Alliance (NASA), for showing weak leadership in the party. "My party leader has Jubilee right in his bedroom. Jubilee members have been elected in Kitui...the elected are Jubilee. I urge people who were his allies to tread carefully,” the former Mombasa senator said, as quoted by The Star.Mr Omar is not the only leader to desert the Wiper boss in the recent past. Former Kitui Senator David Musila has already joined Jubilee, along with many elected and former MPs from Ukambani region. The former Wiper chairman, who left the party after he was rigged out of the Kitui gubernatorial nominations, said Mr Musyoka had become a burden to the Kamba people. “Every five years he wants a higher seat. But it’s now too much. It’s now the wish of the Kamba people that we support the government,” Mr Musila said, as quoted by Daily Nation.President Uhuru Kenyatta performed more than expected in the region, with his Jubilee Party winning MP seats. Some of the leaders who support the re-election of President Kenyatta from Ukambani include former Kaiti MP Gideon Ndambuki, former Kilome MP Regina Ndambuki, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, among many others. On Monday, professionals from Ukambani region went to State House to pledge their support for the Jubilee leader. Over the weekend, Deputy President William Ruto asked Ukambani voters to join the government by supporting for Jubilee. He accused Mr Odinga of reducing Musyoka to a beggar. The Kamba leaders, who have vowed to campaign for the re-election of President Kenyatta, say they are impressed with the many development projects he has launched in the region, even though they did not give him votes in 2013. “Jubilee has launched development projects despite not getting votes in 2013. It’s our time to pay back,” said Ms Ndambuki, the former Kilome lawmaker.
