Personally, I was never a fan of Mudavadi. Well, I never hated him but still I would never vote him some time back. All the same, I had a reason, that he was just a 'young' politician who had been endorsed to carry on the works of his 'father'.

It has been said that Musalia has from time to time been used to divide the already divided Luhya community by the government and opposition alike. How true this is, I don't know.

What I may know is that today the sleeping dog has risen from the cocoons of brainwash and the ethnic bondage of Kenyan politics. Time has come when a voice has been sounded in the Western region awakening hope in all the ridges of the community (thanks to the able whistle blower Ababu Namwamba for that). This is not the Luhya community that has been used to get people to State House without giving a damn.

This is not the community that allied with Raila Odinga way back in 1997 when he evidently betrayed the only presidential material the Luhya had by then: Michael Wamalwa Kijana.

It is time for Western to forge their own paths. Crooked as they may be, the community must forge ahead. The efforts do not need to be perfect because they will be straightened with time. It is that time when we all shout in unison a go! go chant for Musalia in his bold try for the presidency.

Should we fail, we shall remain in the books of history for having stood alone for the first time and failed together (as we have always failed standing with Raila - what is the difference anyway? Raila is a blessed failure).

His excellency Musalia Mudavadi, a fail is a try. But betrayal is a show of stupidity and weakness. We shall not betray you.
