Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has been praised for pioneering several development projects but his second term will disappoint many.
There are numerous people who are drumming support for the incumbent based on the admirable progress he has engineered since his election as the maiden Machakos Governor.
His fanatics dream of a heaven that this county is far away from delivering. The probability of landmark disappointment is extremely high. The electorate expect more infrastructural development and increased national recognition for Mutua.
There should be more roads, learning institutions, medical facilities, social welfare programs and empowerment of disadvantaged groups among other things.
Despite Mutua’s close links to what most consider as a government in waiting, the disunity in the national government will stall his progress.
How will Dr. Mutua build more roads when Jubilee is busy dealing with internal succession wrangles? There will be little or no positive mobility in the social sector something that the electorate will not stomach considering their unachievable expectations.
Where will the mushrooming Kamba point man get the funds to bring equity in Machakos? The youths will continue to be perennial poorly paid laborers while women will remain in their traditional private sphere.
You should not expect much from Mutua’s second term. He has created enough enmity to warrant pathetic service delivery to Machakos residents.
He will be constantly opposed from several quotas thus will not perform as expected.
