On Friday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati announced the team which will be in charge of the fresh presidential elections scheduled late this month.

Some National Super Alliance (Nasa) supporters started celebrating after realising that the commission chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba was not part of the team. This is hogwash by the commission chair to NASA supporters. This is a way of ensuring that NASA stops it's weekly demonstrations, lure NASA leaders to cede their quest for the irreducible minimums.

NASA principals led by Raila Odinga have demanded for the ouster of Chiloba as they suspect him of being behind the shambolic August presidential elections which were nullified by the supreme court.

The team which was unveiled by Chebuakti is the same which took part in the August elections and some of the members were taking orders from Chiloba to use unauthentic forms in declaring results.

Despite Chiloba being out of the team, he is still the ceo and hence those members mandated to carry out the fresh presidential elections are Chiloba's juniors and he will still command them.

Chiloba knows that his goose is cooked if free and fair elections are conducted which might lead to the NASA victory. He is therefore determined to do anything possible to ensure NASA fails so that he can secure his job, reputation and freedom.

The only way NASA can ensure Chiloba has not say in the elections, is to force him resign, be replaced by non-partisan person who has the interest of the nation at heart. But as things are now, NASA principals should not relent or otherwise the same game will be done to force Jubilee party into power for the second term.

NASA supporters should therefore not tire in demanding for what is right. Let them not fall prey to Chebuakti's bait. They should remain focused, not be distructed by a passing squirrel.
