Every politician worth his salt trembles at the mere mention of Cord leader Raila Odinga's name. That is why President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto are using every trick in the book in order to tame Raila and confine the the ever enigmatic political schemer par excellence to the political dustbin.
Even hitherto reputed pollsters like synovate have joined the fray by its obsession with Raila's retirement from politics by wanting to create the bandwagon effect where they have of late been engaged in agenda-setting by pursuing a propaganda that it is high time Raila retired from politics.
President Uhuru and his Deputy have been accused of employing all resources at their disposal including compromising reknowned pollsters to twist opinion poll results to work to Raila's disadvantage. It is even claimed that Dr.Tom Wolf are among those on the Presidents payroll.
Recent forays to State House by various delegations under the pretext of seeking for development for their counties point to a government on panic mode and it is a pointer that Raila is a threat to the incumbent.
When Raila talks the government must listen; as shown by the demos he led against the electoral body that forced the government to start a process of the exit of the entire electoral commissioners.
Raila exposed the NYS scam that led to the fall of former powerful Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ms Anne Waiguru, and also exposed the Euro-bond scam and he has been on the President's neck about issues that undermine Kenya's Democratic space.
Raila is also financially endowed with a huge campaign war chest and political mobilization skills coupled with charisma of pulling crowds to his team who are always ready to support his cause since they see him as the liberator.
The former Premier's allies in Cord are aware of Raila's might and that is why they are head over heels seeking Raila's endorsement for the presidency. This talk of Raila having lost three times in the Presidential election is hogwash since it is obvious that Raila won in 2007 and 2013 but he was rigged leading to a negotiated settlement in 2008 where he was appointed Premier and in 2013 he went to the Supreme Court and the shenanigans at the court's ruled in Uhuru's favour.
Raila will again defeat Uhuru next year, and given next year will be the opposition leader's final stab at the Presidency; he has declared publicly that should he be rigged out, he will not seek the Courts intervention and Uhuru is aware of that hence the panic by the incumbent since he is facing a badly wounded and fiery opposition leader who must capture the reigns of power this time round.
