There are wrangles in the National Super Alliance, ship which was and is still destined to sail to Canaan.
Since the January 30th swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga as the People’s President at Uhuru Park, the coalition's members have engaged in accusations and counter-accusations of who is on board and who is not.
The trouble started when the three co-principals Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka skipped the swearing-in event. This one act generated heaps and heaps of blames and accusations, not only from the other NASA leaders but even from the Central Organization of Trade Union secretary general Francis Atwoli.
Atwoli termed the actions of the three NASA co-principals as cowardice and even vowed never to support them again.
Atwoli’s sentiments were echoed by a dozen of other NASA leaders and hundreds of thousands of the opposition supporters who lost trust in the trio. It took a lot of courage for the three to sermon the media and together with Raila Odinga dispel the popular opinion that the NASA pregnancy had started showing signs of a miscarriage. At separate incidences, the trio have maintained that they are strongly in NASA and that those spreading propaganda that the opposition coalition's ship is sinking are misinformed.
But a keen follower of the NASA events may tell you, for a fact, that the ship does not look steady. The sailing is on, yes, but may be to a different direction. A direction that points not to Canaan but back to the departure port. If the recent happenings and allegations are anything to go by, then it will be an uphill task for the NASA team to convince its followers that everything is okay.
The self-proclaimed general of National Resistance Movement Miguna Miguna, who is still in Canada, posted on his Facebook page allegations that NASA strategists David Ndii and Norman Magaya are working to derail the opposition's plans. The People’s President Raila Odinga has since rubbished the allegations and maintained that Ndii and Magaya are trusted members of NASA.
According to a report published on today’s Nation newspaper, Raila praised the two for their selfless role in the NASA course and expressed his anger at the allegations made by Miguna which he termed as detrimental to the NASA course. There has also been talks in the media of how Musalia Mudavadi is already talking of 2022 politics. On the surface, NASA seems to be intact but when scratched a little deeper, the NASA ship is boasting of poked holes which are soon threatening to sink the ship.
The leadership of NASA should not engage in public display of hatred and mistrust as witnessed in the Miguna Miguna Facebook post. If the ship has to sink, at least it should sink quietly. An African proverb says that an antelope hates more a person who sees it and alerts others than a person who sees it and keeps it a secret.
