The heckling came just in the wake of another torrid day in Bungoma County on Monday where he was forced to use an alternative route after rowdy youths blocked roads.

Not long ago, he suffered another embarrassing moment at Narok after charged youths forced him to cut short his speech amid anti-Jubilee Party songs.

Of concern to the DP is the timing of these hostilities which are coming just less than 200 days to the August polls and which threaten to run their re-election bid into headwinds.

Ruto who is considered one of the smartest politicians of his generation is now facing an awkward political dilemma even as he positions himself for the country's top seat come 2022.

However, making inroads in regions considered opposition turfs has become his nightmare if the three latest incidents are anything to go by.

His critics have accused him of being a divisive politician who is ready for anything to tilt the political scales in his favour with the Luhya community being cited as an example.

He has also been accused of being disrespectful and that for him to have any realistic chance of leading the country, he should be ready to humble himself.

The clock is ticking for Ruto and for his dream to be Kenya's president to turn into reality, he will have to cast his political net wide, albeit in a gentle way failure to which he will limp into the battle displaying weak points and handicap his quest for the presidency.
