The state can only honour former Public Works Ps Mariam El-Maawy and other Kenyans who have lost their lives in Lamu County by reclaiming back Boni Forest from terrorists.

Even if it means recalling the military from Somalia, Lamu will never know peace until the forest is secured from the Al Shabaab terrorists suspected to be hiding in the forest bushes.

Families that have lost their loved ones through Al Shabaab attacks will never forget the pain and torture their loved ones underwent while in the hands of the militia group. The government should therefore, ensure tight security to curb any attacks which could lead to loss of lives.

The government must also end farm invasions in the Eastern and Northern regions to ensure residents are living in peace and harmony.
