Deputy President William Ruto is not assured of Presidency come 2022.
One of the leaders giving him sleepless nights is Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Despite being next to President Uhuru Kenyatta, it is clear that Ruto is a troubled man.
If you were keen during Ruto’s recent tour of the Coast region, you would have realised that Joho is indeed a thorn in his flesh.
The Coast kingpin is considered among the best candidates to replace Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga if he opts to retire from active politics after next year’s general election.
Joho has faulted the DP for failing to fight graft in the country, saying he cannot sit back and watch leaders in government continue engaging in corruption.
He recently dared Ruto to choose an international audit firm of his choice to check if he acquired his wealth genuinely.
Forget the rivalry between Cord leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta. A race between Joho and Ruto will be tougher than USA’s race to succeed President Barack Obama.
The two leaders have wealth and enjoy wide support in the country. It will be upon Kenyans to decide who among them will be president in 2022.
Whether Cord wins in next year’s polls or not, Ruto has enough reasons to fear Joho.
