There is a very high possibility Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be in the ballot for the 2022 presidential race based on the current state of affairs in the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition and the country at large.
Should the opposition coalition successfully split following the recently witnessed widened cracks caused by the historical handshake between him and President Kenyatta, then this will be an open gate for the opposition chief Raila Odinga to try again another round of presidential contest come 2022 general elections.
Going by the NASA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Raila Odinga and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka, Odinga pledged to respect the MOU which stipulated that he will back Mr Musyoka come 2022 for the presidency should he lose or win the 2017 elections in which he lost.
The possible disintegration of the coalition will, therefore, mean that the MOU signed between the two will lose its subject of application hence freeing Odinga from any barriers that will block him from vying for presidency come 2022. He can choose to form another movement before 2022 to run for the presidency as the MOU bars him from vying come 2022.
Kenyans should not, therefore, get surprised when they meet Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka on the ballot both eyeing the top seat alongside Deputy President William Ruto who is seemingly a threat to anybody who would wish to run against him in this race.
