Untill recently, Hassan Joho was known to many as just the Mombasa governor, and he was not any different from his counterparts.

Nobody ever thought that one day he will declare his bid to become Kenya’s president, leaving the likes of Deputy President William Ruto with sleepless nights.

Joho’s influence in the entire nation has made him a force to reckon with. However, one of the questions we need to ask is whether the outspoken governor will defy Mutahi Ngunyi’s tyranny of numbers theory to become the president of the nation.

According to Mutahi, It is not possible to become president, if you lack the numbers.

It is clear that the Coast region does not have the numbers to take Joho to State House. In addition, politics in the region does not rely on communities.

The governor has a long way to go if at all he wants to validate his dream in the upcoming elections.

He needs to woo supporters from Central Kenya, eastern, Coast and western regions in order to rise to power, which will not be an easy task.
