Ruiru Member of Parliament hopeful Isaac Mwaura has rejected claims that opposition has no power to rig election saying Orange Democratic Movement party leader complained of a rigged elections yet he was in power.
This comes after claims by a section of Jubilee leaders led by National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, that opposition is plotting on how to rig the 2017 polls, claims Mwaura said should not be taken lightly.
"When I hear people saying opposition cannot rig I am surprised, we just witnessed the US elections where there were allegations of hacking by Russians to assist Donald Trump," he told Citizen TV's Power Breakfast Show on Monday
"We have seen in many countries opposition trying to rig elections. Even in the last election really Raila was the incumbent and he complained of rigging," he noted.
The nominated MP insisted that having an analogue tallying option was a good idea that should be allowed to ensure a foolproof electoral system saying that not all part of Kenya had access to network.
"We have to have a system that is foolproof, if you look at network penetration in the country it is not even at 17 per cent," he said.
"In the last election this affected the transmission of data from the polling stations. Let us stop pretending as a country that we have reached a point where we can do an electronic voting system," he added.
