The opposition coalition has suffered a major blow following mass exit by Garissa aspirants who were formerly attached to the party.
Five politicians from the political hotbed of Garissa county, led by Mohammed Dahir, the Dadaab legislator called it quits from Raila's opposition for the ruling Jubilee government.
The politicians said they were tired of political colds that were widespread in the opposition. Other defectors are the Garissa county assembly speaker and three MCAs.
In a statement, the Dadaab legislator poked holes at the Raila-led opposition, saying they had exited the party for Jubilee because they were more convinced that President Kenyatta's camp was the better option.
He added that only Jubilee regime had ensured that the long-forgotten residents get unlimited access to public services, citing issuance of ID cards as one such benefits.
"We decided to defect from the opposition because we believed that Jubilee Party was the better option. For the first time since independence, our people have been issued with IDs, documents that they have waited for ages to acquire," said Dahir.
The defectors have since been officially been welcomed by President Kenyatta pending the party primaries slated for Friday this week.
