Under the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leadership, the Opposition formed a National Super Alliance (Nasa), that had greatly been advertised by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

During a mega Bomas of Kenya convention, January 11, Opposition announced the unveiling of Nasa, bringing six parties together.

This, according to the Opposition leaders, is a strategy to send the incumbent Jubilee government home, in the August polls.

Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, Mudavadi's ANC, Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya, Wavinya Ndeti's Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU), Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper party and Gideon Moi's Kanu (which is yet to fully join the alliance), merged to form Nasa.

Kanu was represented by secretary general, Nick Salat, in the event attended by at least 5,000 Opposition members and aspirants.

They said Jubilee should brace for tougher political showdown, and prepare to leave office, as Nasa was an assurance, that Opposition was united for real change.
