Opposition leader Raila Odinga had called for mass actions on January 4th 2017, a similar date in which the Senate is set to decide the fate of the amendments.

On Thursday, Cord Secretariat member Norman Magaya ruled out calling off of demonstrations, adding that Jubilee administration was not acting in good faith.

“We are dealing with people who lack political goodwill and they have shown that many times. We can only withdraw demonstrations should they also withdraw all the amendments as passed by National Assembly,” he told KTN news.

“We cannot also withdraw court cases that declare both special sittings illegal. We all need political goodwill, which as opposition has always embraced,” he added.

Magaya said the opposition would only push the mass actions to a later date in a bid to allow the Senate makes its ruling over the laws.
