Sospeter Ojaamong' (Busia), Okoth Obado (Migori), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) said the claims were baseless and were meant to taint their images ahead of the 2017 elections.

A week ago, Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale claimed that ODM governors fund Mr Odinga's activities in the country.

He also claimed Raila receives a monthly salary from opposition governors.

The governors said Duale's claims were meant to divert public attention from the corruption that has marred the Jubilee administration.

They tasked Duale to provide evidence with regard to his claims.

He had also claimed that corruption was more rampant in counties than in the national government.

The latest Auditor General's report shows that some counties mismanaged money running into billions of shillings.

Among the counties named by the Auditor General were Kakamega, Migori, Vihiga, Homa Bay, Siaya, Kisumu and Mombasa.

"For Jubilee, blaming Raila is easier than tackling the real issues affecting this great nation. It is not enough for Jubilee to say Raila is not fighting corruption in Cord counties," Ojaamong said.

Ranguma said Duale’s allegations were false adding that Raila “cannot engage in acts to hurt the devolved systems."
