President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to ignore the lies and propaganda spread by the Opposition to tarnish the Government’s development record.
He said among the major challenges the country was facing included divisive politics and hatred being propagated by politicians.
“As Jubilee, we are committed to uniting the country and serving all Kenyans irrespective of tribe or religion. The problem with our opponents is that they are more concerned with dividing the country than serving Kenyans,” President Kenyatta said.
The President commended Kwale leaders for working with the government in development, saying the welfare and interests of the residents should always supersede those of the leaders.
He rubbished claims by the opposition that the government wanted to grab land, pointing out that his Administration has issued more titles deeds in the four years it has been in office than all the past regimes combined.
President Kenyatta – who started the second round of his voter registration mobilization campaign in Mombasa and Kwale counties – spoke today when he stopped to address residents at Likoni, Kombani and Ukunda before he issued citizenship documents to the Makonde community at Sawa Sawa grounds in Msambweni.
He particularly urged the youth to register in large numbers so that they could participate in choosing progressive leaders who will cater for their interests and take the country forward.
“With a voter’s card, you will ensure that you count in determining your future and no leader will disregard or use and dump you,” he said.
The President warned the youth against engaging in violence and criminal activities, saying they should instead embrace dialogue in addressing and any grievances they might have.
President Kenyatta put on notice drug barons, saying their time was up.
Speaking at Sawa Sawa grounds in Msambweni, Kwale leaders who included Governor Salim Mvurya, legislators Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale Women Rep), Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga) and Gonzi Rai (Kinango) commended the Jubilee Government for its development record in the county and across the country.
They dismissed the opposition as a disorganised group that neither had focus nor the interests of the people of Kwale at heart.
“We lost direction and walked with the Opposition in the last general election but it has become clear that apart from empty politics and abusive language, they have no focus on development. That is why we are now in Jubilee,” Governor Mvurya said.
The leaders led Kwale residents in declaring their support for the President, his deputy and the Jubilee Party.
They said the large turn out of the residents to receive the President signified that Kwale county is no longer an ODM zone.
Present were Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana, Senators Mike Sonko, Emma Mbura, Beatrice Elachi and Beth Mugo.
Others were Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Mohammed Achani, MPs Masoud Mwahima (Likoni), Peter Shehe (Ganze), Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh and Coast Regional Commissioner Nelson Marwa.
