Opposition Legislators have threatened to boycott the State of The Nation Address by President Uhuru Kenyatta since there is nothing new the Jubilee Government has done in the past one year.
Addressing the Press in Nairobi on Monday, ODM Chairman John Mbadi said that the blowing of whistles in the last Address though help to get some things done: removal of IEBC Commissioners, they will not use the same strategy again.
“The steps we used last year helped to some extent because they galvanized the country to push for reforms in the IEBC. Immediately after that ‘firimbi’ in the house, it got to the streets and we got the Commissioners out,” Mbadi said.
In addition, Machakos Senator, Johnson Muthama said that the state of the nation is ‘pathetic’ as Doctors and Lecturers have been on strike for too long and other civil servants are threatening and therefore there is nothing new to listen to. He said that as NASA Legislators, they will meet to discuss the way forward.
“There is nothing we could be told because we nothing has been achieved by the Jubilee regime. You cannot talk about achievements when you have doctors and lecturers on strike. Other civil servants are threatening to go on strike. We have corruption in every corner of the country,” Muthama said.
