Opposition leaders in the Nyanza region have postponed presidential election campaigns for NASA leader Raila Odinga.

The leaders said they will instead focus on pressing for electoral reforms. They argue that without key electoral reform ammendments, it will be a waste of time and resources to go back to ballot.According to the new directions, street demonstrations will now be conducted in all the six counties of Nyanza on Mondays and Fridays as directed by Odinga.

MPs Fred Ouda (Kisumu Central), Paul Abuor (Rongo), Aduma Owuor (Nyakach), Jared Okello (Nyando) and Samwel Atandi (Alego Usonga) have said they will not relent until the demands are met.

Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, governors Anyang' Nyong'o (Kisumu), Cornell Rasanga (Siaya) and Okoth Obado (Migori) have all concurred.

''We want to make it very clear that No reforms, No elections,'' declared Outa.

Okello and Ouda insisted that they will not participate in the fresh presidential election if the calls by NASA to amend sections of the law are not followed.

The decision comes in a wake of preparations by Jubilee MPs to use their numerical strength in the National Assembly to change the elections laws.
