Deputy President William Ruto has received unlikely support from an opposition MP regarding the 2022 presidential race.

Ruto who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 under the Jubilee Party.

According to Ford Kenya secretary general Eseli Simiyu, the DP will become president in case the country's political dynasties gang up against him.

This comes after opposition chief Raila Odinga made peace with President Uhuru Kenyatta, retired Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

The meetings sparked fears that political dynasties were plotting to lock out Ruto from State House.

Speaking on Tuesday during the AM Live show, Simiyu said that if dynasties come together, the main beneficiary will be Ruto.

"If the dynasties gang up against Ruto, it will work for Ruto. If he has a head-start now, I don't know what you will call it then," said  Simiyu. "

Following the meeting, Ruto has embarked on a campaign mission launching development projects in different parts of the country.
