Leader of Minority in the National Assembly Jakoyo Midiwo has refuted claims that opposition MPs will boycott President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address in Parliament today.

The Gem MP says that they will attend Uhuru’s address but they don’t place any value to it.

The National Assembly Minority leader said that Uhuru’s address will have no impact because he will lose the August 8 general elections.

“We will be attending Uhuru’s State of the Nation address but it has no value to us,” said Midiwo during an interview with  Citizen TV on Tuesday.

The Gem MP said that Kenyans are ready for change in the August polls and that Uhuru's State of the Nation address is meaningless.

There have been claims that some opposition MPs plan to boycott the President address.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will address Parliament where he is expected to highlight key achievements his government has realized in the last four years.

The president is also expected to outline mechanisms his government has put in place o guarantee fair and transparent August 8 general election.

Last year’s State of the Nation address was interrupted after some opposition MPs started whistling. The disruption led to a scuffle among MPs allied to the opposition and the ruling Jubilee government.

Today’s State of the Nation address will be the last one as the country heads to the August 8 general election.
