Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has accused the opposition of plotting to create tension and anxiety in the country over their claims that Jubilee government plans to rig the 2017 elections.
Kabogo says that the opposition is keen to scare Kenyans and create anxiety ahead of the 2017 polls.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at AIPCA Kanjuku Parish in Gatundu North on Sunday, Kabogo said that the opposition plot will not work.
“These people (the opposition) are seeking sympathy of Kenyans because they have already sensed defeat in 2017,”he claimed.
Kabogo asked the opposition to provide evidence of planned rigging instead of engaging the Jubilee government in propaganda.
“Kenyans are tired with the propaganda being spread by the opposition,” he said. Kabogo also hit out at the opposition accusing it of intruding into IEBC secretariat affairs.
He said the IEBC is an independent agency that should be allowed to do its work independently.
The opposition claims that Jubilee government is hatching a plan to rig the 2017 polls.
Last week Cord management committee led by Siaya senator James Orengo, his Machakos counterpart Johnson Muthama and MP Eseli Simiyu alleged that Deputy President William Ruto has been allegedly having secret meetings with some IEBC officials in a plot to rig the 2017 polls.
The Jubilee government has however denied the opposition claims.
The government says that the opposition wants to derail it’s from fulfilling its development agenda by speculating propaganda and malicious statements.
During a rally at Tononoka grounds in Mombasa on Sunday, DP Ruto told off the opposition over the rigging claims.
He said that the opposition wants to frustrate the preparation of next year elections.
In a statement sent to the newsroom by ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed on Sunday, the Orange party maintained that there is a plot by the Uhuru Kenyatta government to rig the 2017 polls.
The Orange party said that procurement of election materials should be halted until when the new IEBC chairperson and commissioners will be appointed to office.
