President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again blasted opposition as a bunch of ‘power hungry’ individuals with nothing new to offer to Kenyans.
Uhuru also urged politicians to engage in peaceful campaigns adding that all political contestants should be ready for free and fair elections.
In his New Year address, Uhuru accused opposition of polarizing the nation by preaching hatred and negative politics during campaigns.
“We do not have an opposition that engages us in real issues affecting our people. They are a bunch of power hungry individuals who puts their interests ahead of anything,” he said.
“These are people who be avoided at all times. They do not care about our people and their politics are based on agitations and divisions and we cannot allow them to make Kenya ungovernable,” he added.
Uhuru said he will be ready to accept this year’s elections results should he lose on a free and fair contest.
“Elections will come and go. All I want to assure you it that we will hold elections this August which will be free and fair. I am ready to accept the results,” he said.
