His excellency the Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua has urged political rivals to stop intimidating and harassing sitting leaders citing the unfortunate incidences where MCAs resort to passing impeachment motions against governors in case of misunderstandings in the county governments.
Speaking during his tour in Embu county on Saturday, Mutua hit out at leaders who always confront their rivals while abandoning their roles of pushing for development in the process.
The governor's remarks come in the wake of the Senate clearing Nyeri county Governor Nderitu Gachagua of mismanagement claims after MCAs passed a motion of impeachment.
Mutua further criticised the opposition leader Raila Odinga saying that he disrespected President Uhuru Kenyatta during former Cabinet minister William ole Ntimama’s funeral in Narok last Wednesday. He further applauded the president for defending the government’s development record and its policies at the same function.
In his bid to popularize Maendeleo Chap Chap, he noted that the movement will advocate for development to all parts of the country and address the issue of lack of tangible development and poor leaders that is destabilizing Kenya's peace.
