The opposition parties are still undecided over the name they will use as they head to the next elections.
This comes even after the registrar of parties confirmed that NASA has already been preserved by ANC, and within Cord, Ford Kenya party leaders Moses Wetangula has confirmed that there are no formal discussions to join any other political party.
The latest development will hamper the progress made so far, after the opposition parties met at the Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday to form a political vehicle that they can use in next year’s elections
There are indicators that the parties might not settle on the NASA Alliance as the name of the vehicle the will ride in during this year’s elections.
At a meeting to unveil Ford Kenya’s Political and Complaint Board, party leader Moses Wetangula said talks of the party to use come this year’ elections were going on well, and using NASA is not a forgone conclusion yet.
“Cord is the coalition that we went into the last elections with, is the coalition that we belong to, a coalition that we have instruments on coalition formation, one we have registered with the registrar of political parties,” said Wetangula.
“Our seats in parliament and different representations are under Cord, and anything else is not something that Ford Kenya has not associated with,” he added.
Amani Kenya’s Musalia Mudavadi has been selling the NASA coalition, urging other opposition leaders to unite under the umbrella.
